铁炉子断裂具多期活动特征,其中在北秦岭印支期陆内碰撞造山后期以伸展作用为主。剥离断层由韧性剪切带、角砾岩带和断层泥构成3层式结构。其中韧性剪切带由西向东分别由钙质糜棱岩和花岗质糜棱岩组成。宽坪岩群和蟒岭岩体组成花岗-变质地体。陶湾岩群折劈理是区别于宽坪岩群以及华北地块地层的特征性面理构造,表现为滑落式基本类型,其动力学机制与伸展构造作用关系密切。
