Every time I turn this picture, there is an indescribable pain in my heart. 22 years of sad memories often recur in my mind. This photograph was taken in late fall 1969. When I was rehabilitated on the farm in Huai’an County, Hebei Province, I was photographed in a photo studio when I was ordered to send corn stalks to the county’s paper mill. How did I get to Huai’an County from Beijing? I was transferred from the army to the Chinese Writers Association in 1954 and Ren Wen in the editorial department of “Literature and Art Studies”?
