There is currently no vaccine to prevent untreated influenza bacilli (NHTi) infection. The P4 protein is a lipoprotein with a molecular weight of 28-30 kDa and is highly conserved in all established and non-typed influenza bacilli. The aim of this study was to determine if the specific immune response induced by nasal immunization with recombinant P4 protein could prevent nasopharyngeal colonization of NHTi.
