旱地占信阳地区总耕地面积的百分之四十左右。长期以来,旱地作物产量水平低,其重要原因就是有机肥料缺乏,土壤瘠薄,结构不良,致使作物生长受到限制。大力发展绿肥,乃是增加土壤有机肥料,改善土壤结构,培肥地力,提高旱地作物产量的一条重要途径。为此,本试验通过柽麻、绿豆、田菁几种旱地绿肥掩青作小麦底肥,探讨对小麦的增产效果。试验地为白墡土,肥力水平较低。前茬小麦,亩产200斤。麦收后机耕整地,深度8寸。试验地划分成四个大区,面积各为一亩,分别种植柽麻、绿豆、田菁。另一个大区晒垡作对照。
