根据在山东禹城试验区多年培肥节水试验证明:土壤有机质具有改善土壤物理性质、增加土壤水分库容、抑制土壤水分蒸发、增加降水入沙、拓宽土壤有效水含量、提高土壤保水供水性能的作用;土壤有机质由7.2g/kg增加到13.2g/kg以上时,土壤水分利用率由1.08~1.68kg/mm提高到1.56~3.11kg/mm,节水30%左右。通过增加土壤有机质可将土壤含水率的灌水下限指标由以往田间持水量的60%~80%降低到55%左右,仍可获得高产,土壤有机质在节水农业中起着重要作用。
