朱宝祥一生致力于通派盆景艺术的发展。在长期的艺术生涯中,深思传统盆景存在着造型呆板、姿态单调、千篇一律的格局,已不能满足于人们的审美观念,现有的盆景也跟不上时代的发展,他决心在通派盆景“两弯半”的基础上,推陈出新,另辟蹊径。几十年来,他广采国内外盆景造型风格之精华,并不辞辛苦,登黄山,攀匡庐,翻越九华山,常常流连于祖国的名山大川,沉醉于家乡的奇石异树,依据自然界千姿百态、生机盎然的树姿,返璞归真,缩龙成寸,既保留了优秀的传统技法,又不断创新,制作出的盆景体现了自然美与艺术美的完美
