The authors explored the relationship between welders’ exposure to different metallic fumes and neuropsychiatric symptoms. The study involved 65 male aluminum welders in Sweden and 217 male rail welders exposed to different metals. The mailing questionnaire was used to understand the types of metals touched by each subject, the years of exposure to various metals, the average daily exposure hours and the presence or absence of various neuropsychiatric symptoms, followed by statistical analysis. The results showed that there were 3 or more risk factors for neuropsychiatric symptoms in long-term (20500 ~ 60000 hours) welding workers exposed to aluminum dust, with an OR = 2.79 (95% CI = 1.08-7.21), with a frequent inattention OR = 2.34 (95% CI = 1.15 ~ 4.76). There was no significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05)
