《Oncology Times》1984;6(2):10.
Oncology Times, 1984; 6(2): 10. San Antonio, a report from the American Society of Cell Biology reported that the antiplatelet effect of calcium channel blockers may have some utility in inhibiting tumor metastasis. One study showed that mice given nifedipine or Nimodipine can inhibit 80-85% of metastatic tumors compared to untreated control mice. The physiologist, James M Onoda, associate professor of radiation oncology at Wayne State University’s Department of Cancer Biology, Detroit, told the Oncology Times reporter that the possibility of a clinical trial has been discussed. Onoda found that in vitro, nifedipine and Nimodipine inhibit the interaction between tumor cells and platelets.
