The Tang dynasty fought a Japanese navy, and the strength of the two sides was recorded in ancient documents of China, South Korea and Japan in quite a few doubts. There are also different speculations in academia. This article examines the historical material and research findings of the three warring sides and draws a clear conclusion on the strength of the military forces put into the battlefield by the Tang Dynasty and Japan. It considers that this is a battle of roughly equal strength between the two sides. The reason for the failure of the Japanese army lies in its political decision-making.
