中国人读史大多是被动的。求学期间,被动地记诵年代、人名、事件,被动地接受社会性质、生产关系、历史规律等概念;进入社会后阅读历史,是迫于周围环境的人事纠葛与斗争,试图从历史中汲取实用的权谋智慧;面对各种戏说历史作品,懒于思考,鲜少质疑,对其中的观点全盘接受。在被动的记诵里,历史变成僵硬的知识,简单、固化、支离破碎;在功利化的阅读中,历史是阴冷的厚黑学,肤浅、片面、毫无深意;对戏说的盲从盲信,使得自身对历史真相的认知愈加模糊。渐渐的,读史者本身,与活泼的历史失去了精神上的联系。
