For the 65 years after World War II, Russians enjoyed most of the peace with most countries after World War II, a peace that was achieved through containment. The means of containment rely on a series of containment forces, of course, the first of these is nuclear force. These deterrent forces are constantly evolving and perfecting, and they continue to form a relatively balanced relationship with the aggressor forces. Some major powers may have long intended to destroy their adversaries, but they have not done so because they themselves will be destroyed if a war breaks out.
