Anterior segment surgery caused by persistent low intraocular pressure is an uncommon important complication. Ciliary body dissection often complicated by low intraocular pressure. Ocular pressure is sometimes low after corner incision or trabeculotomy without wound fistula formation. In this situation, low intraocular pressure is usually due to ciliary body detachment caused by accidental surgery. Collins (1918) set out to examine the histopathology of rabbits with persistent hypotony after trauma and found that there was a separation of the ciliary body from the scleral protrusion in the injured eye, resulting in direct communication between the anterior chamber and the suprachoroidal space.
