延平区水南街道位于南平城区南面,城乡结合,东南与夏道镇毗邻,西南与西芹镇相连,西、北与四鹤、水东街道隔江相望。傍沙溪、延平湖,外福铁路、316国道横贯全境,连接京福高速公路,水陆交通便利,区位优势明显。近年来,街道立足街情,发挥国道和城郊优势,走城郊型经济发展路子,大力发展民营企业,不断壮大经济总量,培育了长富集团、荣德胜、百佳食品、中闽铝业、大和农牧、亿发商贸、华威服饰、东岭汽车、世华地产等规模企业,初步形成食品加工、纺织服装、畜牲养殖、机械制造、金属加工、商贸餐饮、房地产开发等主导产业。至2011年末,完成规模以上工业产值13.1亿元,农业产值12287万元,财税收入5200万元。
