Past research indicates that this substance may enhance the role of cadmium and mercury in killing mother rats, fetuses and teratosodes. The authors of this paper have demonstrated that NTA actually reduces the toxicity of cadmium to maternal mice, inhibits the deposition of cadmium in tissues and has no effect on teratogenic effects of cadmium. The authors also report the impact of NTA on the toxicity of Hg.
