钱澄之撰《屈诂》的主要原因,一是借表彰屈原之气节来抒发明亡后的个人忧愤之感,二是从《诗》学的角度来阐发屈原作品的内在含义。《屈诂》的注评体例主要是随文释义,注评篇目是依照王逸、朱熹所定,注评原则和方法大致包括字词注释继承传统、解题和章句注重发挥意旨、略补旧注之缺失等。而钱澄之对朱熹《楚辞集注》尊崇且又有所取舍的原因,主要是朱熹在当时仍具有崇高的地位。《屈诂》具有诗韵的注评语言与作者是诗人有关,其平正通达的注评风格则表现出作者力戒空疏臆说的鲜明时代特征。
