In order to describe the characteristics of the Arivavine engine self-propelled injector, a cold flow test has been conducted. In the test, a Malvern particle sizer calibrated at high volumetric concentrations was used. The processing of the local measurement data provides a one-dimensional distribution description for a given set of design and operating parameters. This distribution is close to the classical Rosin-Rammler law (defined by the standard diameters and indices that represent scatter properties). Water tests at atmospheric pressure provided data to support and refine the conclusions of the literature; experiments in the plenum confirmed this conclusion and considered the effect of gas density. Other tests that spray liquids quantitatively give the effect of liquid properties. The final atomization model provides the input data for the numerical simulation of the Viking engine.
