Transport engineering connecting the UK to Europe has long been under study. The first program was published in a French magazine more than a hundred years ago. At the beginning of this century, there were still many opinions on this issue. Until the French press in the 1960s, a large number of articles appeared and feasible and constructive suggestions were put forward according to the geological conditions. The first construction proposal was drawn up in 1974: The project started with the two ends of the auxiliary tunnel, in line with the design made in 1972. Later, in October 1974, the British government proposed to suspend the project until it reached an all-agreement agreement with France.
