Of the most recent discussion on “The Future of History,” the most surprising issue is the most problematic topic of “contemporary history.” Many of us do devote our entire life to teaching and writing about the recent events so it is worthwhile to discuss the nature of the work and its particular problems. “Contemporary history” is an inaccurate concept and therefore difficult to grasp.
