新疆土壤的微量元素分布情况,一直是个空白。中国科学院新疆生物土壤沙漠研究所1979——1984年进行了此项研究工作。这对开发利用新疆的肥力资源、合理利用土壤微量元素、有的放矢的改良土壤、促进农业的发展,将起到积极作用。微量元素分布的研究工作,是建立在土壤调查和荒地资源考察的基础上进行的。研究工作以布点法收集全新疆各山地、平地、盆地的不同土壤类型的土样,计七百多个剖面、两千多个样品,浸提土壤溶液,进行原子吸收光谱测定,将获得的数据用电算机处理。经过多年的工作,完成了1:400万新疆土壤微量元素分布图。该图包括了铜、锌、铁、锰四种微量元素。1985年4月底这项成果通过了鉴定。鉴定的专家们认为该图反映的由北向南、由西向东递减的规律是合理的。该图将由新疆人民出版社出版。
