THIS note first researches the geochemical characteristics of rare earth elements (REEs) and Sr and Ndisotopes of hydrothermal chimney in the middle Okinawa Trough. On this basis, the sources of mineralforming material and mechanisms of mineralization are discussed. 1 Analysis methods and results A hydrothermal chimney was obtained from theIsuzu depression in the middle Okinawa Trough andsamples for analysis were handpicked from chimney.Four samples belong to two types of ores, respectively,in which samples 360-1, 360-5 and 360-8 are of Cu-Znsulfide type and 159H is of barite-amorphous SiO_2type.
