《红楼梦影》作为《红楼梦》众多续书中的一种,同时也是迄今为止发现的第一部由女作家创作出版的小说,它出现在续《红楼梦》热潮的后期,有许多与以往续书的不同之处,在叙事方式和语言风格上都有自己的特色,既有旗人小说的特点,又不失京味小说的风格。它从特定的角度反映了当时的社会政治、经济文化以及民俗世情,同时也开辟了红学研究、晚清小说研究以及满族文学研究的一个新领域,对于研究太清这位著名的女词人的晚年心态,以及清朝末年封建贵族家庭生活,也有不容忽视的价值。
