《长征组歌》决不是单纯的一组关于长征的歌曲作品,它以每一首歌作为每一个单元,由长征中的红军走过的“路线”作为民族音乐文化出发点,将中国地区性的民歌、民谣及戏曲音乐融合、钳入其中,如江西采茶戏音调、贵州木管音乐、苗族山歌和侗族大歌、云南花灯音调、船工号子、牧歌、陕北信天游、湖南花鼓戏、藏族歌舞音乐、中国戏曲的紧拉慢唱和赣南采茶戏等等音乐素材,完美地把红军经历的千辛万苦以辽阔的疆土大地展现,有着相当的艺术魅力和感染力。
