Inspired by the determination of being among the world’s top ten automakers in the final years of this century, South Korean auto makers are marching into Europe, North America, and other markets in the world with large-scale offensives. Daewoo has established a $5 billion overseas investment plan and is ambitious to increase its annual global automobile production capacity from the current 700,000 to 2 million within five years. Daewoo also plans to enter the European market for the first time early next year. At the same time, Daewoo’s two largest rivals in South Korea, Hyundai and Kia, have also started sales in Europe and the United States, and hope to expand sales with new styles and excellent advertising.
