Although the effect of ankylosing fixation on distal muscles has been reported frequently, the effect of jaw fixation on masticatory muscles has so far been poorly understood. For some reason, orthopedic fixation between the upper and lower jaws is often used by many surgeons. Mayo and other studies have shown that: macaque intercostal fixation after 5 weeks, significant contraction of the muscle and temporal muscles.
