中国现代主义小说的产生与发展离不开对西方现代主义的借鉴。通过现代作家在“五四”及20世纪30年代对“意识流”的接受情况可展现中国现代主义小说产生、发展的过程及特点。即“五四”作家在创作中对“意识流”的接受,源自对目的论意义上的西方现代性之追求以及作家内心“自我”意识的增强,由此造就的鲁迅、郭沫若、郁达夫等一批作家的焦虑性文学叙述成为中国现代主义小说的最初形态。而20世纪30年代,以京派为主的新传统主义者如废名、凌叔华等人,通过反观中国传统文化,并建立在对西方现代性批判立场上的“意识流”文学实践,成就了一批具有跨文化交流特质的中国现代主义小说的成熟之作。
The emergence and development of Chinese modernist novels can not be separated from the western modernism.
