Based on the analysis of the lithofacies palaeogeography of the Precambrian Yagongshan Formation, the formation, enrichment and prospecting of the Dahongshan Iron Ore, which occurred in the lower part of this group, are discussed in detail. It is pointed out that the Dahongshan type iron ore is mainly formed in a relatively closed environment (similar to a lagoon) such as a shallow water depression or a branch sea in a riverside - coastal plain. Iron is leached from ancient rocks, transported to these quieter shallow waters by groundwater, and deposited by chemical and biochemical processes.
