早生水蜜桃的花芽形成分化可分为六个时期。即:叶芽期、花芽形成初期、花蕚形成期、花冠形成期、雄芯形成期、雌芯形成期。是属于典型的向心形成类型。在郑州地区,1962年到1963年的分化过程大约是7月中下旬开始分化,花蕚形成期在8月上旬,花冠形成期在8月中旬;雄芯形成期从8月中旬到次年3月上旬;雌芯形成期从8月下旬到次年3月中旬,花芽形成分化过程延续达7至8月之久。在休眠期内,除低温时期外,均继续进行分化。此次观察低温时期是自元月初到二月上旬共约40日左右,日平均温度为-0.9℃,过此时期后温度上升,二月中旬日平均温度保持在0℃以上时,就开始减数分裂。
