科技期刊术语规范化是信息时代的需要，是计算机文献处理（标引和检索）的前提。目前国内一些文献数据库的检索实践表明，术语不规范必将导致许多有用文献漏检。科技期刊中的术语对社会起着舆论导向作用，术语规范化应成为科技期刊编辑处理的重要内容。畜牧业历史悠久，相关学科很多，词语繁杂，术语规范化难度较大。目前，畜牧专业术语规范化的主要依据是国家标准中与畜牧相关的术语标准、农业科学叙词表及农业百科全书中的畜牧兽医分册。
The standardization of technical journal terminology is the need of the information age and the premise of computer literature processing (indexing and retrieval). At present, some domestic literature database retrieval practice shows that the terms of non-standard will surely lead to many useful documents undetected. The terms in sci-tech periodicals play a role of public opinion in society, and the standardization of terms should become an important part of sci-tech periodical editors. Animal husbandry has a long history, many related disciplines, complicated terms, terminology standardization more difficult. At present, the standardization of animal husbandry terminology is mainly based on the national standards and animal husbandry related terminology standards, agricultural science thesaurus and agricultural encyclopedia of animal husbandry and veterinary volumes.
