With the rapid advancement of medical knowledge, the demand for medical information is also increasing. According to statistics, the biomedical literature has grown at an annual rate of 6 to 7%. For a doctor, if it is limited to traditional reading to obtain medical information, it is not enough. A new approach to medical information management has led to the emergence of a new discipline, medical informatics. Medical informatics is a basic science of computers in the field of medicine. It deals with various kinds of medical information through computer systems. Although the history of this new discipline is not long, its importance has increased. WHO has established a special information systems department to promote the role of medical informatics in developing countries. The American Medical Association first incorporated medical informatics into its “speci-alty review” in 1986.
