It has been more than two decades since the communicative approach was introduced to the Chinese foreign language community,affecting tens of millions of Chinese learners of English. Consequently,Communicative approach became a widely - used approach in the second language acquisition and plays an increasingly important role.However,a variety of constraints have inhibited the adoption of Communicative approach in China.This essay analyses briefly what exactly is communicative approach and how it can be applied in the EFL practice.The paper is an attempt to resolve the tricky problem countered by English instructors in China and enabling the English acquisition become more efficient and effective. It has been more than two times since the communicative approach was introduced to the Chinese foreign language community, affecting tens of millions of Chinese learners of English. a variety of constraints have inhibited the adoption of Communicative approach in China.
