This article is translated as Journal Editors in the Scientific Process, U.S.A., 1989 edition, which was written for Chapter 10 of the book by Henry L. Roediger III, Purdue University. This is an invaluable precious essay on western editorial studies that we have come across, to some extent, representing the current level of research done by American higher education institutions in this field. It started with the role of science and technology editors in the progress of science and technology. Taking the editing of psychology journals as a special case, it introduced such important comparisons as science fighters, science gatekeepers, sci-tech scouts, and arbitrators, and used statistics The author proposes the concept of “editing citation coefficient” (ECF), and discusses the law cited by editors. The article thinks editors have a very important influence on the progress of science and technology. Its impact is mainly manifested in the first instance, the selection of reviewers and the final ruling of these three stages. The article also deals with the impact of knowledge explosion on editors and the origins of western science and technology journals.
