以“鸳蝴派”为代表的民国旧小说表面上继承了中国传统小说的衣钵,但从总体上说,它属于中国传统文学的强驽之末,从形式到内容,它已经远远不能适应新的时代需要了。“五四”文学先驱所以要对它大力扫荡,正是基于这一点。而“五四”新文学所以能取而代之,也正是因为这一点。这是不以任何个人意志为转移的历史规律,这就是中国现代文学史。至于以“两个翅膀”之名来攻击“五四”文学革命,给“五四”文学革命抹黑,就更是螳臂当车了。
The Old Republic novel represented by “Yuanyuanpai School” inherits the mantle of traditional Chinese novels on the surface, but on the whole it belongs to the end of the stronghold of Chinese traditional literature. From the form to the content, the old novels of the Republic of China are far from being able to adapt Needs of the new era.
