Studies of biologlcal marker compou nds in five oil samples from a profile where normal crude oil, lowcondensate oil and heavy oil are produced in the Karamay Oilfield have been carried out with great empha-sis on the biodegradation--resisting capability of 13,17 aecosteranes,8,14 secohopanes, gammacerane andcarotanes. Based on thesc studies, a equence of biodegradation--resisting intensities has been establishedfor saturated hydrocarbon biomarkers in crude oils from the Karamay Oilfild.
