C_(caco_3)=163.32-0.015D-1.47C_(sio_2)
According to the sediment samples from 10 stations in the mid-Pacific Basin manganese nodule survey voyage in 1983, the percentages of carbonates, SiO 2 and organic carbon were determined. Combined with the Japanese navigational reports GH 77-1 and GH_ (78-1) in the relevant information, preliminary study of the sediment calcareous and siliceous components in the water depth constraints under the changes. This paper argues that the sediments in the survey area are mainly composed of calcareous and siliceous components, and the relative contents of calcareous and siliceous components are exponentially declining with the depth of the oceans. The variation relationship is basically represented by the following equation. C_ (caco_3) = 163.32-0.015D-1.47C_ (sio_2)
