The basic principles of the formation of CBM reservoirs and shale gas reservoirs, as well as the key data used to evaluate the CBM reservoirs and shale gas reservoirs and the methods for obtaining them are introduced. Outlines the drilling, completion and recovery processes for these reservoirs. In CBM reservoirs, the vast majority of natural gas reservoirs are considered as adsorbed gas. Shale gas is a mixture of adsorbed gas and free gas. It generally relies on hydraulic fracturing to connect wellbores with natural fractures. Both CBM and shale gas reservoirs have strong heterogeneity, and both gases will occupy an increasingly important position in the world energy supply.
