Its emphasis on historical lessons and the pursuit of the value and significance of the theme in the persuasion and punishment fully show that the Song people paid special attention to the social functions of the novel and thus bring about a series of positive changes such as the subject from the main body to the service object and aesthetic taste. These changes stipulate the mainstream of the development of ancient Chinese novels.
