一、植物学特性饲用甜菜在种子发芽温度为6~8℃,幼苗在子叶期不耐冻,真叶出现后抗寒力增强,可耐-4~-6℃的短暂低温。最适生长温度为15~25℃。在黑土、砂壤土、粘土、轻度盐渍化土上均可种植。二、饲用价值多汁,富含糖分、矿物质、维生素。其根、叶中粗纤维含量低,消化率高,适口性强,是猪和奶牛以及各种家畜泌乳期的优质青饲料。如水肥条件优越,每0.067公顷可产块根15吨,鲜叶5吨。饲用甜菜封行后,每半月便可采叶一次。饲用甜菜的营养成分(占干物质%),块根:粗蛋白质13.4、粗脂肪0.9、粗纤维12.5、无氮浸出物63.4。鲜叶:粗蛋白质20.3、粗脂肪2.9、粗纤维10.1、无氮浸出物60.9。
