明清以来,广府文学对广府地区的文化风情进行了生动、形象的书写,表现出明显的本土化创作倾向。从审美的角度来说,广府文学涉笔地域风情,可以营造一种真实可感的环境氛围,更好地启动故事情节,增强文学叙事的现场感与新奇性,有效地映衬人物的情感心理或个性风采,凸显作品的历史色彩、个性魅力乃至民族风格。就认识价值而言,广府文学对广府风情的摹绘,无疑也有助于今人更具体地了解广府地区的风俗民情,为当今的广府文化研究与传承等提供鲜活可感的文献资料。
