Due to the complex nutritional anaerobic microorganisms not easy to culture, conventional techniques can not detect some oral pathogens. Using molecular genetics can detect these hard to grow bacteria, so that we have a deeper understanding of it. In recent years, a new molecular gene technology, a checkerboard DNA-DIVA hybridization assay, has been used clinically to simultaneously detect the presence of multiple bacteria in one or more clinical samples. The authors applied this technique to detect and analyze root canal infections. Materials and Methods Tissues were taken from 28 infected individuals
