英国翻译理论家Susan Bassnett在《文化构建——文学翻译论集》中提出“翻译就是文化内部与文化之间的交流”。现今的翻译也越来越多的将向文化翻译的方向靠拢。诗歌,作为文化翻译中最璀璨并最不容忽视的一种翻译题材被众多国外汉学家和国内翻译家所青睐。本文主要选取岑参的边塞诗《白雪歌送武判官归京》的三个译本,即许渊冲、C.Gaunt和Witter Bynner的译本,在文化翻译的视角下,对其中文化负载词的翻译进行讨论。文中将文化负载词分为三类(地名官名类、乐器兵器类和自然景物类)进行讨论,主要讨论在这些词的文化意义的传递上,四位译者所采用的策略。
Susan Bassnett, a British translation theorist, put forward in “Cultural Construction - Literary Translation Theory” that “translation is the exchange between culture and culture.” More and more of today’s translations will move toward cultural translation. Poetry, one of the most brilliant and most neglected translation issues in cultural translation, is favored by many foreign sinologists and domestic translators. This paper mainly chooses three translated versions of Cen Sen’s frontier poem, “Snow White Song Sending Wu Judge to Beijing”, namely, Xu Yuanchong, C. Gaunt and Witter Bynner’s translations, discussing the translation of culturally loaded terms from the perspective of cultural translation. In this paper, culture load words are divided into three categories (names of class names, musical weapons and natural objects) to discuss, mainly discussing the tactics adopted by the four translators in the transmission of the cultural meanings of these words.
