自古时起,中国人便对古老的埃及文明抱有浓厚的兴趣。随着近代中国国门被打开,许多中国人终于亲身领略到古代埃及文物的神韵。由于自身对于金石器物以及古代文字研究的兴趣,中国人也逐渐接触并涉足近代的新兴学科“埃及学”。近代中国人对于古代埃及遗物的考察与研究热情源于对中、埃两国“相似”命运的参照对比。彼时的埃及同中国一样处于帝国主义的瓜分漩涡中,中国人试图从埃及的历史中寻找到自身救亡图存的经验教训。

With the opening of modern China, many Chinese people finally realized the charm of ancient Egyptian relics. Due to its own interest in the stone objects and the study of ancient texts, the Chinese gradually came into contact with and engaged in the emerging modern science “Egyptian Studies.” The enthusiasm of the modern Chinese in the study and research of the ancient Egyptian relics stems from the contrast of the “similar” destiny of China and Egypt. At that time, Egypt, like China, was in the whirlpool of imperialism. The Chinese tried to find the lessons of their own salvation from the history of Egypt.
