This article reports a case of using a rubber band to correct a tooth gap, which results in the loss of a central incisor as it slides around the periodontal tissue. Although Hirshfeld suggested that the use of rubber to move the teeth near and far, but the literature has described the shortcomings of abuse of the ring. Recently, Vandersall and Varble described alveolar bone resorption on the premolars as a result of the rubber ring gliding subgingival. They argued that it is best to incorporate a non-damaging, opaque material into the rubber ring in order to find the ring early on the X-ray image. When the rubber ring has no restriction on the attachment, it can slide subgingivally when moving the teeth. Without some form of fixation, these rims can continue to slide down conical teeth, destructing the periodontal ligament of the apical portion.
