改革开放以来,随着社会的发展和对外活动的增加,汉语中出现了大量的字母词,它已经成为汉语词汇不可或缺的一部分。我们在对字母词进行整理规范时所面临的首要问题是如何解决字母词的读音问题,至今人们对于字母词的读音问题还没有形成一个统一的认识。许多词典在收录字母词的同时,都对字母词的注音采取回避态度。对字母词的读音进行规范化,是很有必要的。
