On February 14, 2014, Professor James Francis Cahill (1926-2014) died at the age of 87 in the small town of Berkley, California, USA (89 under the Chinese Arithmetic). The scholar’s death clearly marks the end of an era. In this era, the history of painting is the most active and splendid part of the history of Chinese art history in the United States.
