道德是一种社会意识形态,它是调整、评价个人与社会之间及人与人之间关系的行为规范。列宁曾经指出:“道德能够帮助人类社会升到更高的水平”。职业道德是一般道德的特殊表现形式,是人们在职业活动中应具有的与自己职业特征紧密联系的行为准则和规范。党中央多次指出:在建设社会主义精神文明中,要加强各行各业的职业道德教育。这是由于我们的职业生活是最基本的社会实践活动,而与之相适应的职业道德能够从思想上调整职业内部和外部各方面的关系,激发每个人的工作热情,创造性地完成自己的本职工作。
