This article points to a growing number of studies and policies related to non-motorized transportation (NMT) in terms of the total population, presents deficiencies in evidence, discusses planning issues and sets an agenda for future research. First of all, explain why walking and cycling are more prominent in urban planning problems; secondly, to distinguish between walking and cycling modes of travel; and finally, to clarify the research opportunities based on existing knowledge and to outline Future positioning of NMT research.
