VLSI technology so far used in scientific and military fields is expected to enter the user’s home this year. At least four manufacturers to produce digital TV. This television set consists of eight slices of five VLSI circuits. ICs, designed and manufactured by the International Telegraph and Telephone Company (ITT), will replace most of the signal processing electronics used in analog television sets and will be capable of performing three hundred thousand transistors.
