中国由古老的封建社会被迫卷入近代化的洪流中,势必会产生意识形态上的种种变革,延伸到学术领域自然也会呈现出断裂式的学术发展特征。中国近代对西方美学学科的引入正是浸润在这样的时代潮流中,而学科的引进必然伴随着一系列概念、范畴作为支撑,其中出现于近代审美理想转换中的“崇高”范畴并不是来自于传统思想文化的孕育,而是伴随着近代西学东渐的大潮从西方引进的,它之所以能够在中国的土地上扎根成长,源于它所携带的异域文化气息满足了中国时代转型的价值需求。
