曾经也是落榜生的丁祖诒白手起家创办了西安翻译学院。一腔热血、两袖清风,14年来丁祖诒犹如一匹黑马,在民办高等教育的大潮中异军突起,为国家培养输送了万余名优秀大学毕业生,积累固定资产逾5亿元,引爆出惊人的“西译现象”。丁祖诒用他全部的生命探索并开拓出一条崭新的中国民办高等教育之路。如今,他已成为海内外颇具传奇色彩的人物。对此,敬佩、赞许也罢,争议、嫉妒也罢,西译稳居全国民办高校“龙头老大”的地位已成为不可抹煞的事实。日前, 《香港商报》记者王如与丁祖诒和他身边的人有了较深入的接触,写出了丁祖诒和西译人鲜为人知的一面。本刊特摘选部分章节以飨读者。
