保安族是13世纪来自中亚细亚信仰伊斯兰教的色目人在青海同仁及甘肃积石山与藏、土、汉、回、撒拉等民族长期融合而形成的一个具有悠久历史的民族。保安族人口虽少,居地偏隅,却创造了宴席曲、花儿、劳动号子等10余种体裁多样、富有价值的音乐文化。保安族历经先民聚合期、青海同仁期等几个重要历史阶段,在国家政策扶持下,保安族不断形成了自己的文化,促进了生产发展与社会进步。本文透过历史尘烟,从音乐学、民族学、社会学的角度,探讨特有族源基因和性格特征对保安族音乐生成的影响,曲折的民族发展史对保安族音乐的促进,与时俱进的文化追求同保安族音乐发展的关系,以及多民族文化交流激励了保安族音乐文化的繁荣等,沿着保安族音乐文化的轨迹,解析保安族“小民族,大文化”的社会历史成因。
